What is happening during COVID-19?

We hope you are all well and coping with the current situation.

As you may be aware, we are not currently running groups during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the advice of the Scottish and British Governments in March, our staff are currently working from home.

We will begin reopening groups when current restrictions are lifted, and work can resume. We hope that this situation will provide some time and space for us to plan and develop our service and secure a sustainable future.

What have we been up to?

  • We are brainstorming ideas around online platforms and training courses in order to stay connected and to support our service users.
  • Our Young Leaders are meeting online weekly with a staff member to maintain their community and to explore online training programmes and to plan the future of the project
  • We continue to work on funding applications in order to pick up where we left off when current restrictions are lifted.
  • We have a team of dedicated local volunteers who are maintaining our community garden. They are planting and tending to the crops and nectar-rich flowers and ensuring that there is food to eat and work to be done when the young people return
  • We have bought forward our plans to offer free counselling service for our young people and their parents/caregivers, that was originally part of our five-year plan (2019-2024).
  • We are in an excellent position with a fully trained and BACP registered counsellor as part of our team to offer emotional support directly to our service users who may be struggling in isolation at this difficult time.
